My father was with us through Thanksgiving. He was conscious, alert, and was able to at least touch his new great-grandson. He went to bed after that and never got up again. He slipped into a coma sometime last night, and passed away a 3:25 this evening. He doesn't hurt anymore.
Thanks to all of you who have left words of encouragement. You are all very kind, and I am grateful.

I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. I'm really glad to hear that he was alert and conscsious and touched his great grandson and all of that. I hear that sometimes people are able to stay pulling themselves through a holiday, it's their last push, b/c it means so much. I am so sorry Mara. I know that we all knew it was coming soon, but that still doesn't make it any easier on you, I know. I'm glad he isn't hurting anymore. I hope that your mom is holding up okay. You take care, and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

I am very sorry to hear about your father. It is so nice to hear that you had a nice Thanksgiving with him. That happened to me with my grandmother 10 years ago. She was getting kidney dialisys alot and was feeling out of it and weak. When mother's day came she was thinking clearly and able to hold my 3 month old daughter. That was something she really wanted to do. Two days later she passed away. It is a blessing when they have that last special day. Visit my journal anytime. Hugs, Christine

I just read on another jounral of your father's passing. I pray that G-d will comfort you and your family during this time. Never having known my father, I cannot begin to understand how you are feeling. Just know you are in our prayers.
